Nationale Organisaties

• Dienst der Hydrografie van de Koninklijke Marine: De belangrijkste taak van de Dienst betreft het in kaart brengen van de zee, het uitgeven van zeekaarten en daarmee samenhangende nautische publicaties. Het totale gebied omvat het Nederlands continentaal plat en de wateren rondom de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba.
   
• Koninklijk Meteorologische Instituut: Het KNMI richt zich als het nationale kennisinstituut op het gebied van weer, klimaat en seismologie volledig op zijn publieke taken.
   
• Ministerie van Verkeer en Waterstaat: Het klimaat verandert, de zeespiegel stijgt, de bodem daalt en het regent vaker en harder. Er komt de komende jaren zoveel water op ons af, dat technische maatregelen zoals dijkverhogingen alleen niet meer voldoende zijn. Willen we Nederland ook in de toekomst veilig en leefbaar houden, dan kunnen we niet langer volstaan met alleen de dijken verhogen. We moeten ook het water weer de ruimte geven, voordat het die ruimte zelf neemt. Dit alles is vastgelegd in het nieuwe "Waterbeleid in de 21e eeuw". Daarnaast werken we aan de verdere verbetering van de waterkwaliteit. Op het gebied van Water richt Verkeer en Waterstaat zich dus vooral op: Bescherming tegen water; Waterkwaliteit.
   
• Nederlands Instituut voor Oecologisch Onderzoek: Het Nederlands Instituut voor Ecologie (NIOO-KNAW) richt zich op fundamenteel en strategisch onderzoek naar organismen, populaties, levensgemeenschappen en ecosystemen.
   
• Nederlands Instituut voor Onderzoek der Zee: The Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) was founded in July 1876 as the Marine Zoological Station and is presently one of the major European oceanographic institutes. NIOZ is a research institute under the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). De site is alleen in het Engels beschikbaar.
   
• Stichting "De Noordzee": De Noordzee streeft naar betere wet- en regelgeving, stelt misstanden aan de kaak en zoekt, in dialoog met overheid en bedrijfsleven, naar alternatieven voor een schoner en duurzamer gebruik van de (Noord-)zee.
   
• Wageningen IMARES: Wageningen IMARES; richt zich op strategisch en toegepast marien ecologisch onderzoek. Het instituut is medio 2006 opgericht en is samengesteld uit het RIVO, onderdelen van Alterra en TNO. De werkvelden zijn Ruimte & Natuur, Milieu, Visserij en Aquacultuur.

• De Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij: De Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij speelt een cruciale rol in het integraal waterbeleid: de VMM meet en controleert de kwaliteit en de kwantiteit van water, giet haar bevindingen in wetenschappelijke rapporten en formuleert aanbevelingen; ze adviseert milieuvergunningen en zorgt voor de planning van en het toezicht op de waterzuiveringinfrastructuur. De VMM bewaakt ook de luchtkwaliteit, inventariseert wie wat loost en doet beleidsvoorstellen. De VMM stelt tevens het Milieurapport Vlaanderen (MIRA) op dat alle aspecten van de milieuproblematiek behandelt.

• Institut francais de recherche pour l'exploitation de la mer (Ifremer): De site van het French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea. De site is in het Engels en Frans beschikbaar
   
• International Water Assessment Centre: The International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC) is a joint platform for scientists and policy makers to respond to new challenges in water policy and implementation at national, transboundary and international levels. It builds on a network of leading European Water institutions. Other governmental organizations and programmes are invited to join IWAC's activities. IWAC intends to form a link between policy makers and experts in the field of monitoring and assessment.
   
• Marine Institute - Ireland: The Marine Institute is involved in a large range of data collection activities across a range of scientific disciplines. Much of this data is reported at national, european and international levels for monitoring and resource management purposes. The organisation is committed to the continuous enhancement of data management activities and to the development of new and improved mechanisms for people outside the organisation to access data and information. Marine Data Online is a catalogue which provides information on digital data available for the marine environment from the Marine Institute and other partner organisations. Web Mapping services have been developed to provide direct access to some Marine Institute mapping data. If the data of interest cannot be found here, a Data Request can be submitted, referring to the information available in Marine Data Online. Reports and publications, with information and advice, based on data that has been collected and analysed, are available from the Publications area of the website.
   
• Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level: The Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL)is hosted by the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory (POL). The PSMSL was established in 1933, and is the global data bank for long term sea level change information from tide gauges.

• The Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science: The Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science (SAHFOS) is an international charity registered in the UK, that operates the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) survey. The Foundation has been collecting data from the North Atlantic and the North Sea on biogeography and ecology of plankton sin
